"STEVE ANTHONY: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Steve Anthony. I'm here in New York City. Today, I'm going to talk a little bit about some beginning guitar picking techniques. We might be getting a little ahead of ourselves but I thought it'd be fun to show you some of the picking styles you can use with a bottleneck slide. In this instance, we've dropped the E string, the high E string to a D so that these four strings create, essentially, an open G chord, as you can hear if I, actually. do a finger a G chord and just don't use the--use the little finger at the top. So we can just kind of--these are the kinds of things, as you start to advance and progress--you get yourself a bottleneck slide. They come in glass and steel, your preference. It just depends on the tone that you like. Get yourself one. Mess around with it. De-tune that E string to a D and play around. You'll never know what you're going to come up with.
