"So if you want to start taking tap lessons the very first thing you need to pick out the correct shoes. There's a lot of different kinds they all have the same principal in that there made of you know sometimes you canvass leather they have wood, they have cardboard on the bottom the thing they all have in common is that they have metal on the soles. A lot of females that get into to performing on stage a lot choose to do a high heel tap shoes those look nice but if you ask me there not as easy to work in especially if you want to get into more technical things. These are my tap shoes there kind of beat up I had them this pair of 8 years and that's the other thing is you don't want to go cheap when it comes to things like shoes because you want them to last a long time, you want to break them in you want them to you know take on a form of your foot inside the shoe. I choose these are called Oxford's these are made out of leather so the actual body of the shoes are very soft and comfortable. The under side of the shoe is soft as well it's flexible this section right here is made of leather and then there's a layer of thick cardboard and then this is leather and of course the nickel taps right here. I like these also because they lace up these were about $75 8 years ago they might be a little more less, I think I paid a little extra cause I like the 2 tone of color, most people just wear black. But ya the other thing you want to do is you don't want them to be tight but you want them to be snug so if you wear any like if your shoes size range for a female lets say you wear a 7 to a 7 1/2, you might want to go for just a straight 7 when you buy tap shoes. If there tight to a point where your toes are squish together and they feel numb that's not good you might want to go up a little bit, but you don't want to have to much room up here because you want to have control over what the muscles in your feet are doing in side of the shoe."
