" Hi! I’m Tad Donley and I’m speaking in behalf of Expert Village. I’m giving you tips on how to make your own recording studio. Right here, this is the Big Knob. You want the Big Knob. The big knob takes the signal to the monitors. The Big Knob is, you press little button and they can hear through the headphones, you can say whatever you wanted to them without you having to yell. It’s got the headphone levels, right here, so if they have to adjust the headphone levels, you can do it really easily right here or your other thing and that is important. Right here, this is for something, this is really in need right here, this is focus right vocal Master Pro. This is cool. This has every little thing that you can use that would compression, takes the “sss" the ‘s’ out of it. It has got a lot of interesting stuff on it and you use it for vocals to warm it up and clean it up and so it comes in handy once in a while depending on the voice, if you have a hard type of voice to deal with sometimes, it might be good to smooth it out little bit with this thing. This is about $600 to $700, it is worth it."

on 8/2/2008 This is just horrible. I don't think he knows what to call any of the features on either the big knob or the focusrite. Again, he's recommending gear solely on his opinion and has no education to back it up. The Mackie Big Knob is the bottom end control room monitor piece. It's ok, but there are so many others that are better quality (Avocet, Dangerous MONITOR ST-SR). As far as the focusrite, I don't think he even knows how to work it. He has no idea what features the unit contains, much less what those features are called (he doesn’t even know the name, he calls it a vocal master pro, the unit is named Focusrite Voice Master Pro). Some of the catch phrases missed in this video include (but are not limited to) control room monitor, talkback, preamp, expander, harmonics, opto-compressor, tube sound (emulation), EQ, and De-esser (he tried this one, but couldn't name it, only "takes the "sss" the 's' out of it." I believe these videos should be removed due to the inaccurate and extremely biased information they contain.
