"THE FERRET: Alright. So now we've got out new strings on; we've got out tuning machines tight; everything is ready to go. We're just going to stretch the strings by - I use my thumb and my finger here and my finger here, and I just go pressing with my thumb against the tension on the other two fingers. I just work along the string just to get rid of some of that newness and stretch out that string. Just like that. And I don't want to press too hard because I don't want to break a string but I just want to put that pressure along the string so it kinda gets rid of that newness. Then, I can tune each string up to pitch. I'm using electronic tuner here that tells me when I'm in tune. And then I can just gently stretch the strings again. I might want to do that two or three times, and then the guitar should be staying in tune pretty well. If you don't have an electronic tuner, you might want to use a tuning fork, which is usually tuned to A440, which is going to give you your open A string note. Then you can tune the other strings by playing on the 5th fret until it sounds like it's in tune. Like that."
