"THE FERRET: We're going to show you how to tune it up. Some people use some electronic tuner that plugs into the input jack or some will have a microphone. I'm just got contact tuner, its on the body here. It's going to tell me when the guitar is in tune or not. One thing I want to say before we get in to actually tuning it up is that we want to make sure that everything on the guitar is tight. We want to make sure that there are no loose parts that concern to tuning. One of the ways you can check this is on the tuning machines. There's going to be a screw right in the center of each end piece there and you want to make sure that those aren't extremely tight and that they are also not extremely loose, and you can just take your screw driver in there and tighten those up a little bit in cage, or its just a little tension on there, that way you know that they are slipping once you got then into place. Some of these are pretty loose so tightened them up a little bit. That one is pretty tight. This one is pretty loose. You just check these every one now and again. Usually once you've got them tightened, it may take quite a few restrings before they get loose again. Again, you don't want them too tight or too loose, just where there's really no play in there and you can feel the smooth turning in the gear."
