"Hi, I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village and today we're going to l earn the basics in rock drumming. I like to call it "Rock Drumming 101 - The Basics". So, now that we've practiced counting, and if you count to four, good job. Let's keep counting and now we're going to snap on two and four, every time you say two and four, we're going to snap with our left hand. Now, the reason why you snap with your left hand, most of you probably don't know, is our left hand is what plays the snare drum. So, you don't want to snap with your right hand because you're not going to be playing on two and four with your right hand. You're going to be playing on two and four with your left hand on the snare drum. Later! But right now, we want to practice counting and doing something with one of our limbs. It's kind of like rubbing your stomach and patting your head at the same time. Let's get two different limbs, in this case, our left arm, or left hand, and our mouth, doing two separate things at once. This is key. So, what we want to do is maybe run through a bar or two of counting. One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, and see my head, ya know, you got to get into it a little bit. You got to feel it. Drummers about rhythm, four, one, two, three, four, one. If that's too fast, let's slow it down. One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. There's no such thing as too slow. It's better to be slow and perfect than to be fast and sloppy. So take, go at your own pace, take your time. Let's do, if that's too fast, slow it down. One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. Good job on snapping, lets move on to the next step."
