on 4/13/2009 Thanks, Sean. I found this VERY helpful. I'm a beginner, and live in rural Nova Scotia, where it is hard to find instruction. ---SusanM

on 3/26/2009 I found this set of videos to be very informative. Being a rock drummer for 5 years, I wanted to try a new jazz beat. Although in some parts the narrative seemed repetitive and drawn out, altogether it was a very useful set of lessons to get together a basic jazz drum beat.

"Hi I'm Shaun Schaefer on behalf of Expert Village. And today we're going to be learning how to play a basic Jazz drum beat. So we're almost there. The final step into the basic Jazz drum beat and the Four on the Floor is that were going to add the Snare drum into different beats within the measures or the pattern. So, let's get the Kick drums and High Hat going. One, two, three, four. Let's add in the Ride pattern. Play the Snare drum. Kind of swanky feeling. Real upbeat. So there is a basic Jazz drum beat and the latest being Four on the Floor. So hopefully you enjoyed watching today's lesson and on behalf of Expert Village I am Shaun Schaefer and we'll see you next time."
