"Hello my name is Shoshana Cook, I'm with Expert Village. Learning to play by ear is all about hearing a song and being able to play what you hear. When it comes to learning the chords that are written in your music it is fairly easy but you have a few complicated ones. You really need to focus on the letter that it says. This says C, good old basic C nothing else to it. This one says A, however there is a M so that means A minor. If it does not say it is a major chord, if it says a little m then it is a minor chord. Those are the main things that you have to watch for. Occasionally you get something that is out of the 7 there. Don't worry about that 7 just make a D minor chord. The 7 adds just a little bit different flavor to the music but you don't have to worry about it. You can get the song without that 7. "
