"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Spencer Weisbond and this is my lovely partner Jessie Pats. I'm with Hop, Swing and Jump Dance Studios which was founded in NYC and is now based in New Orleans, Louisiana. We're showing you the Lindy hop. Today we're going to be demonstrating the difference between 6 count basic step and the 8 count basic step. In the 6 count basic step you'll just go 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6. In the 8 count basic step you have two extra steps so it's a little more intriquette when it allows you a lot more freedom on the dance floor. It goes like this 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and 8 1 2 3 and 4 5 6 7 and 8. The 6 count basic goes as follows 1 and 2 3 and 4 5 6 1 and 2 3 and 4 5 6. While the 8 count basic looks like this 1 2 3 and 4 5 6 7 and 8 1 2 3 and 4 5 6 7 and 8."
