"I'm going to show you an exercise called just simply, tremolo picking and it's a good exercise to not only A, improve your picking but B, if it's done on a daily basis you'll pretty much improve your overall execution of playing leads for example. And what it is, is you simply on one string in a series of down, up picks you just go down, up, down, up, down, up, down, up and you want to start slow. Especially if you're a beginner and you know, don't try to build up the speed too quickly, let it you know, you'll feel when you're more confident and can execute it faster. So what I'm going to do here is simply go down, up, down, up and just keep doing that until you can start feeling more comfortable with it. And pretty soon you can get it going, and you want to hear that nice consistent ticking like that. And you want to do it on each string. It's a good idea to do it you know, the B, G and so forth like, you might want to do it for like say thirty seconds, time yourself on each string so forth and so on. "
