"In this example, I'm going to play in the key of A. It's going to be a single note, muted riff. Kind of in the tradition of a, say, Zeppelin, or whatever, like that started in the late sixties or early seventies, or Black Sabbath, except used in the more modern forms of how it's been used. So, with the drums, it sounds like this. So, right there, what I'm doing, is just hammering on from the G to the A. And just chunking in between. And then going to a C5, played open, just played twice. I tell you, what that does, is you're mixing a single string run, or riff, with a chord and they compliment each other very well, rather just say than going. You're giving it the power of the chord and it's another idea you can to base riffs on that you may be working on for songs where you can simply mix a single string riff, and then add a nice power chord afterwards."
