"In this example I am playing an E rock riff. I am going to play a bluesier based riff, and cover a few segments on this. Blues basically were one of the primary contributors to the birth of rock, and, even the modern music we've heard staple blues type progressions used in conjunction with heavier distorted rock tone, in modern music. So, what I am going to do here, I am going to play you the riff with the drums, [play guitar]. What I did there was pick a very basic blues progression in E, not even a progression, just the E chord in itself, added a muted technique on the notes that I was picking, gave it a more modern feel to it, an old standard basically. So, what I was doing there, was playing E5. [play guitar] So, going E, G sharp, then B the C sharp, and then back to B. So, again it's [play guitar]. And then, give you an idea that you can take from an old score and old standard."
