"In this segment, we're going to cover tuning. There's several different ways to tune. In this particular segment, what I'm going to show you is the most basic, standard way to tune. And that's simply by going to the fifth fret. And, starting with the E string, and you're going to be playing on the--what's known as A, fifth fret. And then, simply, what you're going to do from there is pick this note, and pick the next one to make sure they sound just the same, thus being in tune. And then you're going to follow the same procedure on the A string, fifth fret, which is note D. And then play on the D string--as we can hear here, it's just slightly out--to get it in tune. The next one, you're going to be on the D string, fifth fret, which is G. And you want to make sure those both sound alike. On the B string, you have to make an exception. So, you have to go to the fourth fret on the G string to make note B. And then play B open. So, we can hear those sound the same, thus those are in tune. Then on the fifth fret, moving back to that, on the B string, fifth fret, is note E. And then you have the high E string. And then, those sound alike, thus those are in tune as well."
