Get Your Name Out There as an Actor

"SCOTT DUPONT: Hi, Scott DuPont here and you can learn more about me on scottdupont.com and we'll lead into that segment right now on behalf of Expert Village. This segment is all about marketing and yes I do, like most professional actors do, have my own web site scottdupont.com, if you want to see what it's like. There's all kind -- all kinds of different sites to build. Don't rush into building a site when you first start in the business but eventually, you want to get a way that producers, directors, other crew people, clients themselves, anybody in the business that has the potential to hire you and put money in your pocket, they need to know you exist because you could be the best actor in the world. But if people don't know how to get in touch with you or about you, you're not going to get hired. So, a couple of little things I do, when I'm out and about, I always have my photo business card. Everyone has business cards for business. The only difference is if you're an actor, you must -- this is absolute rule -- you must have your photo on your business cards. Some other real actor or someone out, they finally caught on. We were years ahead. Now, they're starting their copy as they put their photos on. I also have these little postcards that I talked about on one of my earlier segments and I mail those out -- kind of a-- thank you letter so it's got my picture, my name and my number that's constantly going across all these people's desk that can potentially hire me. I also spend a lot of time in the internet looking around different web sites and we have a segment at the very end called bonus -- bonus -- what's it called here -- it's called free acting resource. It's kind of a bonus that I -- that I'm going to throw in the very end. And I'll go in to some of those web sites and that sort of thing. But that's basically how you market yourself. Just get your name out there and if you want to learn more, you can actually go to my DVD. It's called Acting 101: How to be a working actor.
