I'm going to talk to you about using keyboard commands in final cut pro. So while you are editing it can be very frustrating to have to use your mouse all the time to select the tools that you want to use. So having a basic understanding of keyboard shortcuts can be very helpful. So there is a few categories of commands. The first category is commands that help you navigate through the time line. So something like control seven will bring you to the cut what comes before the play head is located. Where as control eight will bring you to the next cut. Other useful commands are things like using the I key to mark a in point and the O key to mark a outpoint. Say our play head ends over here in your time line and you want it to be at your end point. Hold on the shift key and press I and it will move over to your end point. If you hold down shift and hit O it will go to your outpoint. Now to clear your end point hold down the option key and then hit I again and to clear your outpoint you hold down the option key and hit O. Now if you want to mark off a whole clip hit the X key and if you want to get rid of it delete it completely hold down the apple key and then the X key. Now there is a whole bunch of different commands that you can use and you can also change which key is associated with these commands. By going to the tools menu and down to the keyboard layout options you can chose customize your keyboard in order to see which commands are aligned to which keys. You could also change these by using the menu over here and dragging these icons over to the keys and you want it to match with. Getting use to using commands can be frustrating at first cause there is so much you have to remember it really makes editing a lot faster once you get familiar with them.
