"But now that we have the scale pattern down, and we know how to read it on sheet music, we're going to go through and read through our first passage, again I'll do a little on rhythm but if you look for playing through rhythms on Expert Village, you'll get all the different rhythms on there. But we start with quarter notes here, and we got here, one, five, six, five, and each quarter note gets a beat, right, four quarters in a whole so it's one, five, six, five, these are eighth notes too, eighth notes to a beat. And you have six, five, four, three. So six, five, four, three, two to a beat. One and two and three and four and....this is a triplet where you sneak in three notes where two notes should fit right, so instead of two quarter notes we have three, so we have here one, two, one, two, one, two, three, one, two, three, one, so that's the rhythm you would play. And this is two, three, four, three, three, one, one, two, one, three, five, four, six, three, five, seven, two, five, one. So we went through and played, these are sixteenth notes, four sixteenth notes to a measure, but again, lots of the tunes you're going to be reading out of the real book are jazz tunes you're already familiar with, so you don't have to worry about the rhythm or the time a lot because you've already heard these melodies and you can just punch in the different note values. But again if you want to do some sight reading of some tunes you don't know, we'll go over a couple basic rhythms and you can search for rhythms on Expert Village as well, and another lesson plan will come up that you can go over."
