"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Safi Thomas from the Blade Academy here in New York City. These are my dancers from the Blade Academy and Hop Dance Conservatory, and we're here to today to teach you about hip hop dance audition techniques. Alright, those were the first 4 counts of what we call a segment. Remember a segment is 8 counts of choreography. 4 segments equal a phrase of choreography. This is how music video directors split up choreography when they're trying to edit. They split up into what's called segments. That's how we split up choreography into segments. Each segment is what? It's 8 counts long. We're going to move into the next 4 counts out of that segment and watch. 5, 6, 7, 8. Now, as you realize, each one of them is doing it a tad bit differently because this is the first time that they're learning this piece. The person in front, she's never done this before, so this is how you'll get to see each level and how the learn."
