"Today I'm going to teach you some advanced tap moves. Follow me. Before we get into our steps and kind of working in advanced tap dancing, I want to make another point about a dynamic that I think is really important to being a great tap dancer. And that is the dynamic of light and shade. That's knowing kind of when to put extra effort into a step to make it sound louder or to make it sound heavier than another step and, in the same way, making something sound lighter, making something sound airy. And again, it's the same with a musician. If you do this in music, there's a certain note that you know have to be with more force and certain notes that have to be with less force. So, as a tap dancer, you know if you're doing a step you really step that out and make it heavy or you can also kind of you hear the difference, you feel the difference. And so when you're doing a big combination, it's those little things that can make something sound so phenomenal and really read to the audience."
