"Now we're going to take a look at our E major scale and learn our E major black chords. That's easy stuff. If we take a look at the keyboard, we start here at E major. Starts right on E and you have 4 sharps. E, F sharp, G sharp, A, B, C sharp, D sharp, E. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. You've got both these black notes and the bottom 2 of the group of 3. You number it 1-7. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. How we make a black chord is we go up in thirds. 1, 3, 5, 7. What I mean by thirds is it's an interval like from 1-3 right is a third, or if 1-2 would be a second, 1-4 is a fourth. If I go 2-4 it's a third. These are all thirds. We're skipping a note each time. 1, 3, 5, 7. We skip 2, 4, and 6. That's our E major black chord. We play 1, 3, 5, 7, and we have our E major black chord."
