Roma Numerals Notating Bass Guitar Chords on a D Flat Scale

"RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to go through and take a look at some of our Roman numerals. So this is how we analyze music at a college level, and we go through our major scale. There are seven notes, right? There are seven Roman numerals: I through VII. And the way it's utilized is we use a major--or we use uppercase Roman numerals for major chords and lowercase for minor chords. We have I Major, ii minor, iii minor, IV Major, V7, vi minor and vii diminished. So if we went through, we'd have D flat major, E flat minor, F minor, G flat major, A flat 7, B flat minor and then C diminished on the top. So we will go through and learn these scales. And again, you don't have to memorize this, but if you want to really get this information down and utilize it or if you're planning on making a living in the musical field, you really want to get all this information down. Again, you can write it down, and we're going to go through and analyze some tunes, so you can see how this is used in motion."
