"RYAN LARSON: So, now we're going to take a look at the tab. Again, we have our four strings here, our top string to our low string. And we start right on the 3rd fret, right? Notice I circled it as our root or I put a square around it and colored it, so we got 3, 5, 2, 3, 5, 2, 4, 5, 2, 4, 5. So, that's it. Same pattern I just showed you and you should you really write this down at home so you can really go through and understand it. And again, we're going to number it 1 through 7, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 back to 1, and this is just a standard major scale pattern that you can utilize all over the bass, so if you'll look at my actual fingers and we start that under the 3rd fret, but since the bass is set up that every pattern can be utilized on the different fret and will sound the same, so I can start here on the 5th fret [PLAYS A MAJOR SCALE] and that will give me my A major scale or I can start way up here and get the D major scale [PLAYS D MAJOR SCALE] or I can even start on a different string. I'll set on the 2nd string, do the same pattern [PLAYS C MAJOR SCALE]. Now, I gotta figure out the notes below but you can go through and get those on your own time or if you go through the different series, I'll show you how to utilize all these different patterns. So, go through and really get that pattern under your fingers."
