"RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to go through and funk up the A major scale a little bit. And we're just going to take--what we're going to do is play some notes inside the scale and just really put a lot of space in between them. And I'm going to also utilize my flat 7 which is this open top string, which sounds nice going into the A. And it is really the space that I put behind the notes that gives that funkiness and then you want to really put the notes [SOUNDS LIKE] out and leave some space in between those. So there are some simple, basic ideas to get you moving in--starting your own funk bass lines, moving around the A major scale on the bass."
