"RYAN LARSON: Now, the main thing behind the shaker is holding the groove. So, if you're trying to do shaker and you don't hear that rhythm in you, it's going to sound like. So, the really key to getting that rhythm is really here inside you, um-um-um. I like to think in my favorite song and just hear it in your head and then while you hear it in your head, in case, your body does the right rhythm, um-um-um. I'm hearing some Tito Puente right now, 1-2-3-4-um-pa-um-pa-um-pa-pa-um-pa-um-pa-um-pa-um-pa-pa-um-pa-um-pa-um, you really want to hear that especially if you're playing with the band, you're going to hear already pumping through your body. But if you just want to get that groove going out on your own, you really gotta feel it inside you and it's a soul through this thing. So, really, go inside and hear that rhythm and if you're not hearing rhythm inside of you, you're not going to be playing the rhythm through your hands."
