"RYAN LARSON: Now, we have different ways to actually mute the shaker. So, if we take it and we play it just open hand or like we showed in original position, you can hear all that nice crisp sound to it. Now if we take it and close our hand around, it's a little bit duller. You can hear the difference. If you're recording, well, you can even go. You can get those two effects going on every other measure, close, open, close--close, open, close, open, close, open, close, open. So, this is another way to approach the shaker and getting different sounds out of the instrument."
