"Now we're going to show you our minor two - fives. We learned our two - fives in the key of B flat major, right; C minor to F seven. Now we're going to learn our two - five that leads into C minor. That's why it's called the minor two - five, it leads into C minor. So if we start on C, our two is D and our five is G. So we have D, half diminished to G, altered. We'll show you what this chord looks like right here if you look at the sheet music that we are about to read. There's your D minor, half diminished and your G seven, altered. We use the same method to find these scales. We start on D and go up the major scale. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. That would be your D minor, now what we're going to do to make it half diminished is we take the fifth and drop it down a notch. Then you have this, that's your D, half diminished. So we took our D minor, black chord that we derived out of our B flat major scale, and we flatted the fifth. Then we're going to take our G, we already learned G minor, right. What we do is we take our G minor chord and we take the fifth and we scrunch it next to the third and you get this sound. So you have D, half diminished to G, altered which leads to C minor. So you get this nice hip sound. So we took the fifth of each of those two chords that we got out of the major scale and we flatted the fifth for the D, half diminished, and we scrunched it together with the third for the G, altered. It creates our minor two - five. Now there's a lot more theory behind those two chords, but you don't have to worry about it right now, you just have to make sure you're playing the right notes. So, really get these voicings down and under your fingers. If you play the G down here and you play three, seven, and your flat three up here it sounds nice too. So instead of having in crunched, I took the bottom note and put it on the top. So that's your D, half diminished."
