on 4/30/2009 You really need to read the comments people are leaving on Youtube. These Conga videos are not good. You cannot play congas, and you most certainly are are not any kind of conga expert. By creating these videos, you have made a fool of yourself on youtube. Do you not read what people are saying about your videos there? And I don't mean the regular mean-spirited YouTube crowd, I refer to knowledgeable people, conga players, and musicians who believe you are providing a great disservice by passing yourself off as an expert. It is unfortunate that some young aspiring congeros may come across your videos and, not knowing any better, accept that you are teaching proper technique. You are not. Read what everyone else is saying about these videos.

"RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to take some jazz brushes and jazz it up. So, that's our basic one-and-a, two-and-a, three-and-a, one-and-a, two-and-a, three-and-a, four, one-and-a, two-and-a, three-and-a, four, one, one-and-a, two-and-a, one-and-a, two--there you go, one, two-and, three, four-and, one, two, three, four-and. So, what we're doing is we're taking the one brush and just doing a circular motion and it gets that nice sound on there, we're doing hits with this one. Again, if you're playing with a large band, unless your congas are miced, you're not going to really hear this but if you're playing with just some guitars or maybe a guitar, the trumpet and a bass, it'll come too perfect. You can hear all that and the big one is--so you had just another way to approach your congas so get some jazz brushes and do it up. And again, if you want to get some nice pitches hit in the middle, you're not going to get a bass tone out of these but you'll get that nice hit. And then when you hit it on the side, it gets--and that's using jazz brushes on the congas."
