on 4/30/2009 You really need to read the comments people are leaving on Youtube. These Conga videos are not good. You cannot play congas, and you most certainly are are not any kind of conga expert. By creating these videos, you have made a fool of yourself on youtube. Do you not read what people are saying about your videos there? And I don't mean the regular mean-spirited YouTube crowd, I refer to knowledgeable people, conga players, and musicians who believe you are providing a great disservice by passing yourself off as an expert. It is unfortunate that some young aspiring congeros may come across your videos and, not knowing any better, accept that you are teaching proper technique. You are not. Read what everyone else is saying about these videos.

"RYAN LARSON: Now we're going to go over just holding one conga by itself. You see, if I have it just lying flat on the ground, I can't really get any bass out of it. You hit it in the middle there, you get nothing. I can still get some muted slapping tones. I get my high pitch slap here. Now, if you want to get bass, what you have to do is elevate the conga. And it's really the space between the bottom that gives it that oomph. And you can see, I can even tune the bass. How--it's the lower you go. So, it's a good effect to have. But if you're playing with one conga and you're playing just say, with a guitar; say, you want to get some bass going, just put your feet sideways and get a little elevation under it like this and you can get some bass notes. And if you want to mess with the bass, you can just move it around like that. It's a cool effect. Say, that nice senorita just passed by and you want to kinda catch her eye, you can go--and start going into a solo. And it'll have a nice, cool effect. It's bound to catch the eye of a lovely passerby."
