"RYAN LARSON: So now we walk through our first eight measures to the A section to "Mack the Knife" and we will add into our B section, which starts here on A minor for two measures. So we just start right here on our 6th note of the scale and walk down for two measures, and we have to land on our ii. And then we walk our ii for two measures as well. And then we have ii again, V for measure, and we have our I-vi, ii-V turnaround, which is a common jazz turnaround where we play I for two beats, vi for two beats, then ii for two beats, and V for two beats. So we're going to walk you through that. So, again, we have 1-2-3-4-5-6, right? So we start on 6 and we walk for two measures: ii, ii-V, I-vi, ii-V, I. So, again, we started on vi and walked for two measures, vi, ii-V, ii-V and I'm staying right in that major pattern, I-vi, ii-V, I. So just staying in that major pattern and moving around the different roots on the downbeat, you get all these different scales out of the same scale pattern, your C major scale."
