Scale Visuals of a B Flat Scale on a Bass Guitar

"RYAN LARSON: So now we're going to take a visual look at the actual scale, so if you zoom that on my hands here we got, here is B flat right here on the 3rd string 1st fret, and I'm just going to go by a frets. So you have 1st fret, 3rd fret, and you have the open string, 2nd string, 1st fret, 3rd fret, open, 2nd fret, 3rd fret and that's your whole scale. So 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1 and as far as the frets go, just remember you got open, 1-3-open-1-3-open-2-3, so you just gotta really remember that 2-3 at the top and we can keep going the down the scale, if we go open-3-1. So now what we're going to do is number the scale 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1. So once you have the scale pattern down, you want to get all those notes from 1 through 7 and really memorize where they are. You might want to make your own chart to help you remember. We're going to show you some standard charts in a second so you can go through and read the tab and find the notes on your own. We're getting a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and then the 1. I will show you how to go through and utilize all these different notes out of the B flat major scale as we go through reading through our real book tunes."
