"Now we have our first couple of measures here. So we are going to start by just looking at the rhythms. We have this half notes so that's held for two beats and then we have this dotted quarter note which gets three fourths a beat which is tied to a quarter note so this gets one and three fourths a beats and it's held out for the rest. Then you have these beats which come in these sixteenths. We have this quarter rest here that?s a quarter rest. We have one and one e and ah, one e and ah, one e and ah. So that's the rhythm we're doing one e and ah, one e and ah, one e and ah, one e and ah. It sounds like this. We're going to go through and get the actual note values so we start here right on a D. We're kind of reading in the upper atmosphere so we're going to read in intervals. So we have D, this is a third above it. It skips that line so we have one, two, three. So we have D, one, three, this is a G, A right there so that's our five, one, three, five, one, three, one, three, five, one, three. Then we have the same more typical after the second thing. Then we come here. We have one, two, notice it's right next to it this time, then we have three, seven, one, or three, six, one. So we have one, two, three, six, one, three, six, one, three, six, one. So those are the first couple of measures and some basic ideas so you can look at the notes and figure out where they are. You want to remember that G is right here and you just count up, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, one. Again this just takes a lot of practice but once you get it second nature it's the easiest thing in the world."
