Alright so here is our B major scale. Notice we have the five sharps notated so you can just read the scale as it's written. And here's our B right here below the first leisure line. So B, C sharp, D sharp, E, F sharp, G sharp A sharp, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Then it starts here on the middle line again and it just goes again one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, etcetera, etcetera. And again, treble cleff is your right hand, bass cleff is your left hand. So this starts lower on the piano. Here is your B and you've got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven. And this B starts, or ends right where this B begins. So, you have your left hand down here and your right hand down here. So some simple rhythmic things that we have to look at. There's four beats per measure. So a half note takes up two measures or takes up two beats. A quarter note takes up one beat. An eight note, two eighth notes equals a beat. And four sixteenth notes equals a beat. Also you've got to keep in mind that a dotted note gets one and a half its rhythmic value so a dotted half note would get three beats as a dotted quarter note would get one and a half beats. So keep these simple ideas in mind as we go through and sight read through a key and in B major. And, we'll be doing Bach's Prelude number one in B major.
