"Hello my name is Russell Squires and I’m here today on behalf of ExpertVillage.com. I’m going to talk to you right now about tuning a cello. Tuning begins at the pegs, the pegs control all major tone of the cello. To position them, we’re simply going to tighten or loosen them with the string. To tighten we turn it away from us, and to loosen it we turn it towards us, this will adjust the tone of the string up and down accordingly. Once you get the string in a general tone, close to its proper note, we use the fine tuner to adjust and make minor adjustments, up by turning clockwise and down by going counterclockwise. The strings in order, starting lowest to highest are C – G – D – A. "
