Converting to Slide Guitar

"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Reno McCormick and I'm here to tell you about playing the Dobro today. All right folks, say you don't want to spend the money on Dobro because you don't know if you're going to like playing it. Well, for five dollars or so you can buy the perfect nut which slips right over top of the nut on your regular guitar. You're losing your strings, get your strings out of the way and then you sit this over top of your nut. Get your strings back on. It is easier than I'm making it look. And what this does, it effectively raises that action so that you can play Dobro and use your barre. I suggest taking off your thumb picks and laying down your barre because that really does hinder your agility. But it really is nice. Sometimes this sounds better than what a Dobro will sound like anyway. And if you want to learn to play slide guitar, say, Duane Allman or something, this is a good way to make it so you can do it. Here you are. Turn it up. I think I'll tune it to an open G. But a different G than you're used to. What we tuned it to is I think an F. But that's the same as G, we can do that. So I tuned it a little low. Makes it sound more blues-like. If you wanted to play some blues, this is the way to go. Better than the Dobro actually. And there we have it."
