"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Reno McCormick and I'm here to tell you about playing the Dobra today. Alright, our finger picks and thumb pick, you want something that is fairly tight, but not restricting. Your finger picks are adjustable. You want them nice and snug, otherwise they might go flying. You don't want too much showing or you can't get in there, you have no control. You want them nice and snug, short as you can stand. And then we'll use this as a rest, it's an armrest, sort of, where we'll anchor our fingers sometimes when we need power. You need to generate power sometimes, because we're playing with banjos and other loud instruments. So, we want to be louder than everybody, of course. Our thumb does most of the work. Folk guitar players know how to do this strum. We only use that sparingly. Mostly we're going to be doing rolls, which are say, if anything you want to practice the most, this is it. So, this is a forward roll; thumb, first, second, thumb, first, second. That is the most important part. That gives us (music sample played here). That's the basis of playing Dobra."
