"Hi this is Rhett Reiger from White Caspian Studios on behalf of Expert Village. We're talking about preproduction in directing the independent feature film. Preproduction is vital in the success of a movie and there are many different aspects of preproduction. The main overall aspect of preproduction as it relates to the director is planning. There must be significant planning for there to be a successful shoot. Now a lot of that is the producer's job. Some of it is the production manager, location scouts and all kinds of other people that are involved in the production that have to get things ready. However, the director is involved in some aspect in every different person's job on the movie set, more or less as a producer is. The director has to know everything about it, what the locations are, who's going to be cast, if there are any location issues, if there are clearance issues. All of that has to do with the director's job because he is going to be, he or she is going to be running the set more or less."
