Cabling is sometimes a confusing issue for musicians and laypeople that don't even play but maybe are sent on an errand to get cables. The two distinctions are between a consumer level cable and a professional level cable that's designed to handle regular audio in a variety of fittings, or, in the professional cables, designed to handle high powered outputs from amplifiers and deliver that to a speaker. You can't interchange these functions. Speaker cables are not suitable for audio, they will introduce hum and noise into the audio and aren't used to hook equipment together. Guitar cables, on the other hand, are made of a special wire that's shielded, that allows you to have the signal go to the amplifier and not pick up noise and interference. There are a variety of kinds of cables like that, the straight-ins; some have combinations with right angle and straight-ins to give you connection flexibility.
