"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Rodney Lopez and this is my lovely partner Amelia Maldonado. We're here at Dance Manhattan Studios here in New York City, and today we're going to teach you the merengue. What are some of the things that are possible from this open position or from this breakaway position? Well, first thing we can do is what's called a wrap turn. A wrap turn is where the lady's arms are wrapped around her. It can also be the gentlemen, but in this case, we'll start with the lady's wrap turn. Gentlemen, start with your right hand. Again, turn her to the right. This is a tricky move. What you have to do is rotate your fingers inside of hers. Notice closely what I'm doing. My hand is palm up, but in order to turn her, I have to rotate my fingers inside her hand first. Once my hands are in that position, I can turn her around without letting go of either hand and wrap her up. Notice that her back is to me and we're both facing the same direction. Now, once again. I'm going to unwrap her and bring this right hand. Gentlemen, this is your right hand holding her left hand. I'm rotating the finger in here and then I'm going to bring it across her face. "
