on 8/2/2008 i thiik thiis really helped since it made be able to tell from other dancesw many can confuse like salsa and merengue plus i always liked bachata just didnt really know how to dance :)

"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Rodney Lopez and I'm Amelia Maldonado. We're here at Dance Manhattan Studios here in New York City, and we're teaching you bachata. In addition to this step going from side to side and around in a circle clockwise, we can also go forward and back with this step. Gentlemen, you're doing that basic time step. You're going to walk forward here. In fact, we'll do this in open position so you can see it better. I'm going to walk forward while she walks back. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. It's a simple walking action. All I'm doing is taking steps forward while she walks back. These are soft steps meant to be done very lightly on the floor. Once again, with my left foot and her right foot, walk, walk, walk, walk, pause, walk, walk, walk, walk, pause. Slight lift in the hip and a slight raising of the foot is characteristic of traditional bachata dancing. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8."
