In this segment we are going to talk about something that is really not an accordion but most people would think it is, this is a concertina. What makes a concertina different in the accordion is the buttons that control the notes are on the sides rather than on the front like an accordion. In most other ways it is a free instrument and it could be either single acting or double acting. This is a put together version from parts in the 1890 accordions and it is also single acting and it has a high sound and it plays mostly melody notes not chords on both sides of the concertina. Today you would hear this a lot in English music or Irish music but these where originally a classical instrument and there is classical music written for the concertina.
