Extra Etiquette: Important Tips for Film & TV Extras

One of the things you have to remember when you are working in motion pictures as an extra, you will be surrounded by celebrities at times; sometimes very well known celebrities. Now of course, many of us are star-struck and we may want to start speaking to these celebrities but you have to have a certain amount of etiquette when you are working on a set. As a matter of fact, sometimes you are told by the director that you can't even look at that celebrity. We've worked on a few productions where we have been told that you cannot even look in their direction because it makes them uncomfortable. There is a certain amount of etiquette. They are also there to do a job so they have to remain focused on the lines they have to say. Remember, they have been rehearsing and studying and they need to make their work just as good as your work as the extra. "
