"On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Paul Lewis and I'm Rodney Smith and we are here to talk to you about how to become an extra for TV, movies and commercials. Now in order to be an extra for a TV or commercials in film, one of the things you have to do firstly is find an agent because that is really important and when you want to get really good extra work and you want to be notified on when the big productions are coming into your city. One of the things that you can do to get an agent is actually there are periodicals like newspapers, like Back Stage and Show Biz, they are industry papers. You can pick up at most newsstands and they have all the auditions and all the extra work numbers that you can call to work on film projects. Even if you look at regular newspapers in the Classified, you can sometimes agency's that are looking for regular people to do extra work and you can call that number. Now let me explain what we mean by auditions. When we say auditions, we mean auditions for the agency because some agent only accept actors who are interested in extra work because that is what they specialize in but there is an interview process and we personally call it audition but we don't mean audition for the part because the thing is when you do extra work, you don't have to audition for the project. They just call you, your agent calls you and they say something is happening in town, show up there tomorrow at 6:00 in the morning or 5:00 in the morning. It's not too bad to actually get up that early when they are feeding you a good breakfast. That is one of the good things we will talk about. We'll be right back."
