on 9/9/2008 i don't want to be telling you what to do (since your a teacher) but you need to;
1. do something about your hi-hat, whether it be moving the mic further away from it or usimg a different camera
2. try putting some old clothes or material in your bass drum for a shorter and less "boom" sound
and 3. try tuning/tightening the skins and snare on your toms and snare drum before you start adding tape. they sound really de-tuned

BUT NICE LESSON ANYWAY!

"Let's take a look at the basic punk beat. There's many beats played in punk music, but this is sort of a foundation that is used quite often. I'll demonstrate first and we'll talk about it. Notice, I'm playing my high hat slightly open by lifting my left foot off the high hat ever so slightly. It makes this sound, crunchy raw with attitude. Let's take a look at the bass drum and the snare. We're playing a stroke on the bass drum, the down beat, and then up beat on snare, and then I like to typically add two bass drum beats the second time and upbeat on the snare again together. Alright, let's add that crunchy high hat."
