"Here we're going to talk about the different parts of an amplifier. Now right on the outside is the grill. We call this whole fabric on the front the grill. It can be made out of a variety of different things, tweed is common. But, behind the grill is where the speaker is which of course projects the sound. It's just basically a nice veneer for the speaker which lies underneath. It also protects the speaker from getting damaged. It is a very fragile thing. So if something hits it you don't damage the speaker. Now the whole body of the amplifier, all this wood on the outside would be called the cabinet which as we mentioned earlier sometimes you'll just have speakers in the cabinet. This encompasses the whole thing, the preamp is in here too. The input jack, that's where you plug the instrument in, we saw that earlier on the acoustic amplifier. That's where your quarter inch instrument cable would be plugged into the amp. The headphone jack, sometimes an amp will have a headphone jack. This amp has one in the back. It's a quarter inch input which allows you to play the amplifier through your headphones and you don't have to disturb your neighbors or your roommates or whatever it might be. It's very convenient."
