"In this variation of the eighth notes grouped in three cross meter, we're going to be playing on every two when we're counting three eighth notes. Let's count these three eighth notes, get that set up and then start playing the bass drum on every second. Here we go- one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three. Good. Now on every two let's go ahead and hit the bass drum. Ready, go- one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three; one, two, three. Now let's turn this into a cross meter by playing in four-four time using the swing ride pattern. Ready- one, two, three, four. Notice that the bass drum is going to line up differently every time because it is a cross meter. Thus each time things don't line up quite the same."
