"Here's a variation of playing quarter notes in groupings of three on the bass drum. Now here, instead of starting on the first of three, ONE, two, three, the bass drum will hit on the second of three. One, Two, three. One Two three. To begin the cross meter, let me demonstrate on the feet. One two three four. One two. Notice, the first time we play the bass drum on beat two, it lines up with the click on the high hat. And then every other time the bass drum will be playing on itself because it will be playing on an odd beat as opposed to an even beat. Let's add the ride symbol pattern to this and put it all together. One two three four. One two three four."
