On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Nathan Bugh, and with me is my talented student Shannon Sharoney. We're here at Dance Manhattan Studios in New York City to teach you Balboa and other Swing-era dances. This is how you hold your partner for the Charleston. It's very similar to Balboa. The leader's right hand goes on the partner's back and the girl's left hand goes on her partner's shoulder. The difference is, you hold your partner further around. Now instead of facing your partner, together we form a wall; a wall of dance. Okay. We have a certain posture, bend your knees, bend at the waist. Now it's time to try our Charleston step. Five, six, a five, six, seven, and... One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Rock, step, kick, step, kick, and kick, step. Rock, step, kick, step, kick, and kick, step. Rock, step, kick, and stop right there.
