"PAT LOUIS: On behalf Expert Village, I'm Pat Louis in Miami, Florida. And today, I'm going to show you some basic drum rhythms. Another fine Latin dance that's very popular is the samba. Samba is a much more rhythmic, a lot faster kind of a dance that people really can get into. You use a lot more of all the instruments in this including the bells on each of the cymbals because it gives you a much more kind of a Latin feel to it. The bells on the cymbals as opposed to working on the flat areas of the cymbals. So in this case, you wouldn't use too much of the high hat, but more of the other cymbals involve and the tom-toms. To sum it up, most of the rhythm comes from the sticks working on the bells or both of the open cymbals rather than a high hat and the high hat can be used as just an alternate idea."
