How to Shuffle Overhand for Basic Card Magic Tricks

" Hi everybody! Malik the magic guy at expertvillage.com. Now let’s talk about a little card shuffling. Now a lot of this stuff is going to seem pretty basic but there’s a right way to do it and I want to show you what that is. So, first the overhand shuffle what you want to do is you’re going to hold the deck by the short edges, you’re going to have your thumb on this side your fingers on this side, and cradling with your other hand you’re going to pull cards off with your thumb in chunks, just like this. Now as you go on with card magic there’s going to be ways to use this to control cards, and you’re going to want to be having the control to run single cards, but basically it’s not a throw with this is hand it’s a pull with the thumb. I’ll show you from the end here so you can see just like this, this is a basic overhand shuffle, and when you do it a little faster it’s going to look like this, but really you want to be cradling in your hand this way and then pulling off with your thumb like that not, throwing from this hand. So that’s some basic ideas on how to do an overhand shuffle with a deck of cards."
