" Hi everybody! Malik the Magic Guy for expertvillage.com. I want to talk to you about one other old deck setup that’s kind of a classic, that you’ll come across if you’re studying more about card magic. It’s called the eight kings setup. Let me show it to you. It goes like this: 8, king, 3, 10, 2, 7, 9, 5, queen, 4, ace, 6, jack; and I have these setup in chased order like I taught you about before—clubs, hearts, spades, diamonds, clubs, hearts, spades, diamonds. Now one good thing about the 8 king setup is there’s a poem you can use to remember it, and I’ll tell you how the poem goes. It goes, 8 kings threaten to save 95 ladies for one sick knave, and it clues you to the cards. Eight kings threaten to save is 7, 95 ladies for the queen, 4 one ace 6 is sick, and jack is knave. So that would clue you to that setup. Now any of the tricks that I showed you with Si Stebbins—well not any of them—but most of them are going to work, because this has the same kind of principle: the values repeat every 13 cards; they alternate in color if you’re using chased order. So this is another cool setup you can use to do almost all the full deck setup tricks; professionals still use this to this day. This is a great setup, you should learn it—8 kings setup."
