"MICHAEL PLUNKETT: Hi. This is Michael Plunkett on behalf of Expert Village. For this topic, we're going to take a look at the five different chord shapes, CAGED, and we're going to look at how we use scale degrees in those chord shapes and how we can use that to make different types of chords beyond just the major chords. We'll look at the majors, but then we're also going to take a look at how we build minor and 7th chords out of those chord shapes. Now, if there are other video series that we've done that are important to look at before you come to this one, we're going to be using some terminology from the chord shapes video series, which is also here on the website, and also the scale degree video series. In the chord shapes video series, that will take us through how to play those five major chord shapes that we use, C, A, G, E, D. So, that's what the chord shapes one will take you through. If you're already familiar with those, then you should be good to go. The scale degree video will take us through how to think about a scale and how to use numbers to relate to the different notes that we use in the scale. So, unless if you're--if you're familiar with using scale degrees, it's a little bit of music theory there, you would definitely want to take a look at that one before we get started for this segment where we're actually going to be using and manipulating those scale degrees to look at our chords, but if you're already ready to go, then keep watching and we're going to take a look at these different chord shapes and find out how to make different types of chords from them."
